About Castaloy

Cast iron is one of the most widely used metals in the world, found in engine blocks, exhaust manifolds, wood stoves, cookware, ornamental fencing, radiators, pump housings, and industrial machinery. When cast iron breaks, it becomes one of the most difficult metals to repair using conventional methods. The high carbon content that gives cast iron its hardness also makes it extremely brittle and prone to cracking under the thermal stress of traditional welding.

Castaloy eliminates that problem entirely. Our proprietary low-temperature eutectic alloy works at just 550 degrees Fahrenheit, hundreds of degrees below the threshold that causes thermal shock and cracking in cast iron. All you need is a standard hand-held propane torch, a wire brush for surface preparation, and a Castaloy rod. No arc welder. No shielding gas. No professional training. The resulting repair is actually stronger than the original cast iron material.

Every Castaloy rod is manufactured in the United States by Bradshaw Consulting, Inc. under rigorous quality control standards. Since 2005, thousands of customers have used Castaloy to repair engine blocks, antique stoves, wrought iron gates, tractor parts, cast iron cookware, and countless other items that would otherwise have been scrapped or sent to an expensive welding shop.

The process is as simple as clean, heat, and apply. For detailed step-by-step instructions with photos, visit our Castaloy Instructions page.
