Castaloy Cast Iron Repair Rod , Low Temperature Eutectic Alloy

Stop paying hundreds for professional cast iron welding. Castaloy is a low temperature eutectic repair alloy that lets you permanently fix cracked, broken, or damaged cast iron using nothing more than a hand held propane torch. No arc welder. No shielding gas. No professional training required.

Engineered by Bradshaw Consulting, Inc. and proudly made in the USA, each Castaloy rod is designed to work at approximately 550°F , well below the extreme temperatures of traditional welding that cause cast iron to crack further. The result is a repair that is actually stronger than the original cast iron.

Technical Specifications

  • Working Temperature: ~550°F (288°C)
  • Repair Strength: Exceeds original cast iron tensile strength
  • Flux Required: Yes , #7 Flux (sold separately or free with qualifying orders)
  • Heat Source: Standard propane torch (or MAP gas for heavy pieces)
  • Machinable: Yes , can be ground, drilled, tapped, filed, sanded, and painted
  • Made in: USA

What You Can Repair

Castaloy repairs all types of cast iron, including engine blocks, exhaust manifolds, cylinder heads, transmission housings, antique wood stoves, fireplace inserts, cast iron cookware, wrought iron fences and gates, radiators, pump housings, tractor parts, agricultural machinery, and decorative/architectural cast iron.

How to Use Castaloy , 3 Simple Steps

  1. Clean , Remove all dirt, rust, paint, and oil from the repair area using a wire brush, sandpaper, or grinder. Expose bright, clean metal.
  2. Heat , Using your propane torch, heat the base metal (not the rod) until it reaches working temperature. Keep the flame moving for even heat distribution.
  3. Apply , Touch the Castaloy rod to the heated surface. It will melt on contact and flow into the crack or joint. Allow to cool naturally.

Why Castaloy Beats Traditional Welding

Traditional cast iron welding requires a $1,000+ arc welder, $100+/lb nickel rods, extensive preheating, and years of skill , and still risks cracking. Castaloy works at 550°F instead of 2,100°F+, eliminating the thermal shock that causes failure. A $15 propane torch is the only equipment you need.

Repair it. Don't replace it.
